Our new home

Outside our new home in the E14; 14 Water Street, Wood Wharf. Just a 5-min walk from Canary Wharf station (Jubilee Line), and steps from the water. 

A first-look

Once the keys were in hand, the team headed straight over for a first walk-through. From old restaurant shell to future Crate Bar and Pizzeria. Let's do this!

New bar loading...

To open a new bar, we needed a new bar-top... Here is a closer look at the details: the bar has been made from reclaimed railway sleepers, fitted with sturdy olive-green springs as spacers. Simple, sleek, and sturdy.

The furniture factory

Before the keys even landed, we were grafting. We leased a second warehouse in Hackney Wick to build custom furniture and fixtures for Wood Wharf. It was DIY, Crate style.

Heavy lifting

It took four practice runs and some serious muscle to get the new bar-front assembled. Each sleeper had to line up perfectly. No easy task but worth every ounce of effort.

The bar is in!

The bar front design mirrors our Crate Hackney Wick original. It's a 7m-long staggered block structure, crafted from repurposed railway sleepers. It takes centre stage in the new space.

With the new bar in place, it was time to start reconstructing our back-of-house space. 

Rewiring

With the bar front in, the wiring of electrics started. We were just a few of weeks from opening here, so the pace on site really picked up. 

All hands on deck

Wall going up, paint is going on, and furniture being assembled. A big thanks to everyone pitched in to the build- every brushstroke, knock-down and rebuild got us closer to opening day.

Fresh floors down

Back-of-house had a refresh with new linoleum flooring.

Planter boxes in build

The team seen here building planter boxes for our riverside terrace. Seating up to 80 guests, with bi-fold doors creating a seamless indoor-outdoor flow come the new year.

The bar is forming 

Our Wood Wharf taps freshly installed! And, the fridges starting to fill with goodies. Now for the finishing touches as we were just days from opening the doors.

Launch events complete.

Early October was an absolute rush. We hosted two brilliant launch events for friends, family, investors and professional friends. It was great to see people in our new space and test out all the features before opening to the public.
