We’ve been keeping this one under wraps for a while… and we’re thrilled to finally share the news - we’re expanding! This October, we’re opening a brand-new Crate in the heart of Wood Wharf — bringing our signature pizzas, craft beers, and laid-back vibe to the area.

Our new home is at 14 Water Street, E14 5GX; just steps from the water’s edge, and a 5-minute walk from Canary Wharf station. It has all the ingredients of a classic Crate hangout - afternoon pints, post-work pizzas, and tasty nights soundtracked by DJs and record labels taking over the decks on Fridays and Saturdays.

The new space will serve up our iconic pizzas like Sage and Truffle, Spicy Salami, and Middle Eastern Lamb. And we’ll also be adding some Wood Wharf-only exclusives to the menu, so look out for some new ones to try (and maybe the return of some historical favourites).

On the taps, you’ll find our core craft beer range, small-batch one-offs and seasonal pours, plus guest drops from all over the craft beer world. 

Not in a beer mood? We’ve got you covered with refreshing Crate soda cocktails, and, wine on tap from Sustainable Wine Solutions, alongside a line up of other specialties to tickle your fancy.

Built by Us, For You

If you know us, you know we like to get hands on; and the refit of Wood Wharf is no different. The fit-out is being done almost entirely by the Crate crew, from the initial demolition, to building the custom banquettes and light installations. We’re completely re-imagining a space, giving it the same stripped-back, hand-crafted feel you’ll recognise from Hackney Wick, but with its own personality that fits right into the new neighbourhood.

Our sustainability minded approach will of course weave itself through Crate Wood Wharf, with Foresso tabletops made from recycled timber terrazzo, Notpla seaweed boards for our pizzas, and wine on tap from returnable kegs. 

Once we’re open, two huge bi-fold doors will be installed, opening the space onto our enclosed garden; which will have room for up to 80 guests to hang out, drink down, and soak up the views.

A New Chapter for CRATE

13 years into the Crate story, we’re excited to venture into this new chapter. It’s been a long time coming, and we can’t wait to open the doors to our friends and community, old and new.

We feel so lucky to have built an incredible community in Hackney Wick, then we found a space in Wood Wharf that we fell in love with, and wanted to bring the authentic Crate vibe to.
